A PROJECT OF GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION

GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION was started by a group of volunteers who wanted to bring a change in the lives of the poor and impoverished by bring education to their doorsteps.

GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION was established in March 2010 and has grown from a band of street volunteers to a huge national network of schools. Education and students motivation programs are major priority areas of GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION.The GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION network extends from remote areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The education component forms the foundation of GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION activities as without education of children and youth there will be no awareness and enlightment. The future vision of GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION is to expand its activities in other remote areas of Pakistan. With Gods help GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION will go where others have not dared. We are but just a drop in the ocean, but we will strive to change the lives of the people we touch.

Vision

The ultimate aim of GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION is Community Development through education & self-sufficiency of the community. The members of GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION are working along with community volunteers who are organized in Community Based Organizations (CBO'S). All activities in the community are planned in co-ordination with the CBO'S and implemented in the community through the CBO'S. Hence, the community becomes SELF- SUFFICIENT and the community development work is SUSTAINABLE.

GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION is presently addressing the following issues in the community.

Community development and Organization into CBO'S.

Community motivation.

Provision of primary, secondary & higher education services.

Awareness raising in community through literacy programs.

Income-generation activities.

Through Community Development and Community Organization active members of the community, both male and female, are organized into CBO'S (Community Based Organizations) the community work is implemented through the community volunteers. GENESIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION believes in providing community based schooling system together with grass-root CBOs.

Objectives

The objective of promoting education as a fundamental right presents challenges in that some donors and field staff of humanitarian agencies do not recognize yet the urgency of restoring access to education to children affected by crisis. Children cannot be stored like tents or blankets, awaiting an end to war and conflict before beginning or resuming their education; this is the recipe for a 'lost generation', who have identified themselves with conflict and seek the earliest opportunity to take up arms against their perceived enemies. The objective of improving the quality of education is important even in situations of emergency and crisis, to meet the psycho-social and developmental needs of war-affected students, and help them build a better future for their own societies.

The objective of promoting experimentation, innovation and the diffusion and sharing of information and best practices is necessary in a field facing such large challenges as emergency education and education for reconstruction.

There is a need to build up a multidisciplinary network of researchers who study the ways in which education has sometimes contributed to the outbreak of violent conflict and the ways in which education can prevent such conflict or its recurrence. Solutions are being sought through diverse macro and micro level programmes, seeking to inculcate universal values of peace and tolerance, and these programmes need to be analysed and built upon, so that there can be scaling up of successful approaches to meet the needs of education in the twenty-first century.
